Kraken is a high drive, high energy sport-bred border collie that came from a now retired breeder in Illinois. His pedigree includes several well known sport kennels in the midwest, such as Blitzen, Czechmate, Heelalong, and Dhumoor. Kraken is friendly with dogs, including intact males, and knows how to behave himself around the ladies. He is neutral towards people, only having eyes for me and our close friends. Kraken is an exceptionally talented herding dog, despite coming from sport lines. He has carried me through the process of learning not only how to herd sheep, but how to train a herding dog and participate in AKC trials. On our first ever AKC A-course run, we won first place amongst some very nice working-bred border collies. Our herding trainer likes to joke that he already knows what to do, I just need to be trained! He has taken home numerous placement ribbons in scent work and has achieved high scores in rally.

In the home, kraken has exceptional house manners- he does not get into trash, counter surf, mark, have accidents, or chew on furniture. He is most relaxed when he's had the opportunity to exercise and work his brain, but he does not have high exercise requirements. He travels well, is clean and quiet in his crate, and often accompanies me to work, pet-friendly patios, and stores.

Kraken's sire (Blitzen's cash me if you can) is a working medical alert service dog and therapy dog. He also participates in UKC agility, trick dog, and rally. Kraken's dam (Blitzen's watch me bloom at pupcakes) also participates in agility and rally. One of his littermates is working as a conservation detection dog with an environmental consulting company, and another is participating in herding and sent work.

Additional notable dogs in Kraken's pedigree include Dhumoor Dakota,Heelalong Pippin, Czechmate hit the trifeta, and Dhumoor's cool wind at Blitzen, which are all extremely accomplished sport dogs. There are several dogs in his pedigree that have eared MACHs, OTCHs, and HCs, with numerous titles in herding, agility, obedience, and scent work.

Kraken is available at stud to approved females, for live cover or fresh chilled semen. We will be evaluating freezing semen for future use this winter.
